What the Tests Measure

Our combines measure a player’s agility, speed, stick handling and reaction time, providing accurate real-time feedback that can be compared worldwide according to CHL Standards of Hockey, as well as the CFL, Shurman Group, and Minnesota Vikings of Football.

Analyze Your Entire Team

Along with combine testing, we provide testing programs featuring goaltender specific drills developed by SportTesting with Bob Essensa, the Stanley Cup winning goaltending coach for the Boston Bruins.

On-Ice Testing

Tireed of training with traditional, dated and inefficient methods? In-Tech uses Evidence Based Training methodologies with highly knowledgeable staff. At our Off-Season Elite Training Program, Derrell Levy and his team will enthusiastically work alongside you to enhance performance, bringing your game to a new level.

Goaltender Testing

The goalie on-ice testing is organized into three phases. Phase 1 and 2 consist of Long and Short Recovery tests, for left side and then right side. Phase 3 consists of the Y-drill Reaction Pad Slide and Pro Agility Pad Slide. All tests are in full goalie gear, with stick in hand. Sticks must remain tight to the goalie and are not allowed to be used to break the timing gate beams.

Together they simulate critical game play movements (challenging shooters, covering angles, reading and reacting, etc.) to assess a player for:

  • Lateral, forwards and backwards movement speed and control
  • Recovery speed and posture
  • Balance and agility on skates
  • Reaction, execution and total response time
  • Flexibility and transition
  • Crease coverage and mobility

Analyzing the data can pinpoint symmetrical challenges (i.e. is the goalie equally at ease in both directions?). Good scores depend not just on reaction and movement speed but also efficiency and control. Movements must be crisp and clean, while avoiding overreactions. These baseline goalie tests are suitable for assessing goalies of varying styles.
